The Foreigner

Larry Shue’s The Foreigner is a two-act comedy set at a rural fishing lodge in Georgia in the “recent past,” where a painfully shy Englishman pretends not to understand English, which leads people to reveal secrets in front of him. He stumbles into friendships and uncovers a plot involving fraud and white supremacists. The play uses comedy to highlight courage, kindness, and standing up to hate.
